Any event needs a support team, and those of us who have organized
events know that the support team is crucial to the event's success.
In 2005 we realized this when Becca's energy bars gave us just what
we needed to finish the day.
The idea and jobs of the support crew are still evolving, but what we
know is that we need help preparing food for paddlers on the water and
for the next day's celebration, assistance with office tasks to help
the event run smoothly, and with the logistics of paddlers' travel and
other day-of tasks. We welcome your participation the day of the event,
the weekend before, or when you can volunteer your time. Keep us in
mind and come join us!
2009 Support Team
In
2007 and 2008, we were joined by SOOP (Service Opportunities for
Older People) volunteers John and Kay Reimer, from Normal, IL.
They
cheered us on, feed us, helped care for many paddle-a-thon
details.
The event ran much smoother because of them.
In 2009, we will be joined by two new SOOP volunteers! Julie and
Steve
Zoss, from Metamora, IL will be arriving a few days before the
Paddle-a-thon. We look forward to having them join us for our
days of
paddling and celebration.
